Resort Pulau Perhentian Besar is located on an island that was visited by merchants and sailors, sailing from Bangkok to Malaysia. They stopped frequently at Pulau Perhentian Besar. This island is one of two islands in Pulau Perhentian region.

The off season for this region is November through February. This also happens to be their monsoon season. While you might receive discounts on rooms, your choice of rooms will be limited. Not only that; but, the majority of shops and restaurants will be closed as well.

Depending on how fast you want to get to the island, you have a choice of a speed boat or wooden fishing boat. The speed boat is faster but bumpy. You are taken to your destination.

These islands are home to sharks, sea turtles, coral and fish. The waters around this island are crystal clear.

It is not required that you wear a wetsuit ; however, it will offer protection from jellyfish. There are several dive shops located throughout the island at the beach areas. For small operation dive shops, Alu Alu, Watercolours and Turtle Bay Divers, next to Mamma's Chalet are your choices. For shops that are a little bigger Flora Bay Divers, and Perhentian Island Divers, next to Perhentian Island Resort, are available. Flora Bay Divers and Perhentian Island Divers offer classes for beginners.

Taluk Pauh, Shark Point and Tanju Basi are the best sites for snorkeling on the island. With guided tours and snorkeling gear available at from the resorts and restaurants.

Maybe you do not mind swatting bugs away or getting hot and sweaty. If this is the case, you might try hiking on one of the many trails that connect the beaches to other. Monitor lizards await you on the main trail. The monkeys can be seen if you leave the main trail.

BBQ seafood and local dishes are available at Teluk KK, located on the southwestern corner of the island.

enu at the Arwana Resort is beef, chicken, fish and squid. They also have a deli. At the east of the island is where you will find this restaurant.

Another restaurant that offers food similar to what the villagers eat is Mamma's Restaurant, beside Mamma's Resort.

Flora Bay Resort has its restaurant. Flora Bay offering chicken fried rice, fried prawns and mashed potatoes are.

Next to the dive shop on the western beach is Watercolours Restaurant. It is associated with the Paradise Resort. They offer fresh seafood as well as vegetarian food.

A white sandy beach, 24 hour water and electricity, individually climate controlled air conditions, in room coffee and tea service and wifi are offered at Tuna Bay Island Resort. It is the best place on the island.

In addition, Tuna Bay Island Resort has hot showers and safety deposit boxes in every room.
