Compared with its predecessor IWC Aquatimer Deep One, this watch features a mechanical depth gauge positioned on the perimeter of the dial and a maxium depth indicator. It comes with two indicators, including a blue one for the actual depth and a red one for maximum depth.
This function is achieved through a highly sensitive membrane which is built in the crown at the left side of the case. The membrane transmits water pressure to a lever mechanism that controls the two indicators. The red indicator will hold its set before it is released through the button below the left crown.
The brushed stainless steel case comes with a diameter of 46 mm. In the days when the economic was depressed, IWC added bright blue and red colors to cheer people up.
